About

From an Engineer's Kitchen to Your Culinary Canvas:

Imagine this: you're in the kitchen, mid-recipe, hands covered in flour, a symphony of pots and pans bubbling away. The timer pings, the kids are asking for snacks, and the stress starts to simmer. But what if there was a way to turn this everyday chaos into a culinary adventure, where efficiency meets excitement, and every task feels like a playful puzzle solved?

That's the vision behind ROO. I'm Steve, a mechanical engineer with almost 20 years of product development under my belt and a lifelong passion for food. For years, I've channeled my engineering mind into the world of gadgets and gizmos, but it wasn't until I was elbow-deep in my own kitchen, juggling dinner and deadlines, that the spark for ROO ignited.

It wasn't a eureka moment, no lightning bolts or falling apples. It was a simmering frustration, a gnawing feeling that there had to be a better way to chop, grate, slice, and dice our way through meal prep. So, I did what I always do: I tinkered. I sketched, I prototyped, I tested (and re-tested, and re-tested again) in my own kitchen, the ultimate proving ground for any culinary innovation.

ROO is the first star of the show. It's not just a gadget; it's an extension of your own culinary creativity. It's the sous chef you never knew you needed, the one who tackles tedious tasks with precision and flair, freeing you to focus on the fun stuff: the sizzle, the simmer, the joy of creating something delicious.

Modern. Sophisticated. Affordable. Exciting. Simple.

ROO embodies these qualities because that's who I am. I'm a passionate engineer who speaks the language of function and efficiency. I'm a playful creative who believes that cooking should be an adventure, not a chore. I'm here to elevate your kitchen experience with products that are as smart as they are beautiful, as simple as they are exciting.

I'm just getting started, and I invite you to be part of the journey. Explore the website, discover the magic of ROO, and let me help you turn your kitchen into a playground of culinary possibilities. Because with ROO, efficiency is the new thrill, and every meal is a masterpiece waiting to be made.

Can I cut directly on the mat?

ROO is designed to work with a cutting board of your choice placed on the mat. The mat is not designed to be cut on directly.

What surfaces types will ROO work on?

ROO is designed to stick on any clean and smooth surface. This includes wood, granite, and tile. Some unfinished flat surfaces (including wood) have micro textures and may not work very well.

How do I keep ROO clean?

The best way to clean ROO is with dish soap and a sponge. It is OK to put ROO in the top rack of your dishwasher, but this may reduce the useful life of ROO.

My ROO doesn't stick well to my counter

First thing to check is that you are using ROO on a smooth surface.

Second thing to check is that the surface and the underside (shiny side) of the mat are clean and dust free.

Thirdly, when putting ROO on the counter, place the pocket up against the edge of the counter and give the mat a light stretch before pressing it down on the counter.
